'Be Ignited,' Honor Society Students are Told

Keynote speaker and Catholic Memorial High School alum Hannah Dugan urged 55 juniors and seniors assembled at CMH Wednesday night to take their acceptance into the National Honor Society (NHS) as a charge to "be the light of truth and of faith" to others, and become leaders by serving others.

The school held its annual induction ceremony for the NHS, which requires academic achievement as well as strong leadership and service components of all of its members.

Of the 55 students accepted, two were from Muskego. Alexa Jaeger is a junior and Allie Konkol is a senior at CMH. Additionally, students for New Berlin included seniors Elsa Aparnieks, Katie Hampel, Bridget Moore, and Kayla Rhymer.

CMH President Fr. Paul Hartmann said the students "reflect and exceed our ideals, not just academically, but in how they care for others. They are mentors, volunteers and student ambassadors who seek to help others in the gifts they have."

Dugan, who is an attorney who has been an executive director with Catholic Charities and practices nonprofit law, encouraged the students to lead 'from the bottom' by serving others in whatever they do in life. In addition, she told them to "listen to adults' suggestions on your path, because they often see gifts and talents in you that you don't see."
