Craig Will Run for Re-election

Assemblyman who stepped into the term vacated by Scott Gunderson in May of 2011 hopes to hold the seat for the next term, citing unfinished work in restoring Wisconsin's economy

In a release, State Representative Dave Craig (R-Vernon) announced his candidacy for re-election to the State Assembly on Monday.  Craig touted his "common-sense, consistent, conservative voting record in the Assembly" as the chief reason he should be re-elected to represent the 83rd District.  He further indicated there is more work still to be done in Madison to improve Wisconsin’s economy.

“This past year my colleagues and I worked with Governor Walker in successfully balancing the state budget for the first time in over a decade while also adopting policies that have restored confidence in employers that Wisconsin is the place to do business.”  Craig continued,   “However, we have more work to do in simplifying Wisconsin’s tax code, shrinking the size of government and reforming our state’s regulatory system.  I look forward to continuing that work if the residents of the 83rd District re-hire me this fall.”

Following today’s for Wisconsin taxpayers Craig added, “the reforms Governor Walker and the legislature passed last session show a clear path to restoring Wisconsin’s economy... With the support of the residents of the 83rd District, I look forward to continuing this important work – making sure our children are left with a better state than the one we inherited.”

The assembly seat was vacated by Scott Gunderson in December of 2010, which prompted a special election in May of 2011. Craig defeated Muskego challenger Jim Brownlow to finish the term. So far, no challenger has come forward in this race.

Craig also noted that he will continue to fight to protect human life at all stages, uphold the 2nd Amendment and continue to lead the fight to block implementation of ObamaCare in Wisconsin.
