Happy Birthday, Muskego Patch!
Two years young and about 5,000 stories later, it's been a grand adventure getting to know you all!
I still recall walking into businesses in October of 2010 as a freelancer to introduce what would become a news website for the community.
The reactions ranged from cautious optimism to eye-rolling skepticism.
However, two years later, you all deserve a virtual piece of cake for the work we've accomplished in sharing news and information. Recognizing the site as yours to use has been the goal, and I do believe we're making progress in that area.
The new year will have more opportunities to make this site uniquely yours, and there will be more to come on that, but in the meantime please continue to take an active part in posting events, announcements and blogs.
What we've accomplished so far is worth a look back:
- Approximately 5,000 articles
- Approximately 3,000 events postings
- 630 Likes on our Facebook Page (we'd love to talk 1,000-plus in 2013)
- 330 followers on Twitter
- 20 bloggers who 'launch' their blogs from Muskego Patch
- About 400 scheduled meetings at the city and school (600 hours worth!)
Here's to a Happy 2nd Birthday - with many more candles to come!

How lucky is Muskego to have you as their editor?! You cover this town like a blanket, delivering real news residents can - and do! - use on a daily basis. Thanks for first being the greatest freelance reporter EVER ... and then stepping in to really make this Patch your own.

This from the surrogate mom. Thanks for setting up shop, Heather. I swear it feels like we've been doing this for decades. It must be the hours we put in ;) Thank YOU!
