Heroes Welcome: MPD Honors Officers, Citizens

Annual Muskego Police Department awards ceremony was held Wednesday night, showing community that not all heroes wear a uniform

Citizens and officers alike were honored by the Muskego Police Department Wednesday night during their annual awards ceremony at City Hall.

Certificates of Appreciation were given to:

Bryon Paape - assisting in the arrest of a suspicious man, who it turned out had stolen a donation jar from the Kwik Trip and was wanted in two other thefts

Phil and Steve Ziegler, Lloyd McIndoe, Terri Boyer, John Mooney/Tess Corners Fire Department - recognizing their service on the Muskego Task Force on Public Safety, which has been the organizing body behind Muskego's National Night Out.

Perfect attendance awards were also given to Officer Scott Sheridan and Lt. Craig Simuncak; Sheridan was also recognized for 5 years of service.

20 Year Service recognition: Lt. Craig Simuncak, Dispatcher Lisa Hanson and Sgt. Robert Kuspa

25 Year Service recognition: Lt. David Constantineau

Commendations were also given to MPD staff in the wake of a hostage situation that led to an extended stand off between police and Bryan Schulz in June 2011. The department recognized the efforts of Sgt. Robert Kuspa, Officer John Walejewski, Lt. Craig Simuncak and Dispatcher Lisa Hanson during the five hour ordeal that eventually ended peacefully.

Lifesaving awards were given to Sgt. Robert Kuspa and Officer Gary Mrotek, who aided an unresponsive woman who had had a heart attack in September 2011. Sgt Ryan Fandre was also recognized for rescuing a semi-conscious woman from a burning building in January 2012.
