Lake Denoon Middle School to Observe 9/11

Students, staff and area veterans will commemorate 10th anniversary with song, speakers

Students and staff at will remember September 11 with a ceremony around the flag beginning at 9am on Friday, September 9.

The student choir will sing prior to the raising of the flag and Pledge of Allegiance, led by School Resource Officer Eric Nowicki from the Muskego Police Department.

In addition, Lisa Alberte from Acres of Hope and Aspirations will speak on being a patriot; accompanying her will be veterans from the Iraq war.

While many of the students were too young to remember the day, Alberte said that is what makes a ceremony like this so important.

"We cannot forget the sacrifice of so many on that day, as well as those who served in the years following," Alberte said. "I think it's important to share what significance this day has with students."

Nowicki will address the school as well to express what the eday means to him, which will be followed by a moment of silence and the playing of taps.
