Lazich Responds to Recall Numbers

While Senator is pleased at polls, she is also aware of motivated opposition

State Senator Mary Lazich (R) from Wisconsin's 28th District responded to a series of poll numbers that gauged the efforts to recall senators in all eight Republican-held districts in the state. Β The poll, which was conducted by Public Policy Polling, revealed that Lazich's approval rating was 35 percent v. 29 percent of respondents who disapproved.

In addition, those who would oppose a recall in the 28th District outnumbered supporters of a recall 44 percent to 26 percent.

"I'm pleased to see the polls, and I'm pleased to see that our constituents understand and support what we've been trying to accomplish," Lazich said. Β "However, we do need to be aware that there are a lot of very angry, very motivated people who are trying to change this outcome, so we need to take that seriously as well."

The poll also showed that in the five districts where approval numbers would suggest a successful recall, only three of them reflect a voter base that would support a recall effort.

"At the end of the day, I am hoping that when people really look at the outcome of this proposal, they will still enjoy better benefits, worker protections and a better package that still surpasses much of what the private sector sees," Lazich said.
