Muskego Man Gets 24 Years For Stabbing His Wife in March

Mark Shogren is sentenced Friday to spend the next eight years behind bars, followed by four years in extended supervision.

A Muskego man who stabbed his wife after a night of drinking and watching movies, will spend the next 24 years in custody.

Mark T. Shogren, 52, was sentenced by Waukesha County Circuit Court Judge Bill Domina Friday to 16 years in prison and eight years extended supervision after he was found guilty of two counts of first degree reckless injury.

Shogren stabbed his wife in the stomach in March after the two had been drinking and watching movies, and making snide remarks about how their relationship compared to those of the people in the movies.

The victim said they were not arguing before the incident, but when she got up from the couch and went to the kitchen to get another drink, Shogren came behind her and stabbed her in the side of her torso.

Shogren then didn’t call police after the incident. His wife sought refuge with a neighbor who then called police.

Shogren pled no contest to five counts of first degree reckless injury in September as part of a plea agreement with prosecutors where three of the counts were dismissed, but read in.

Shogren was sentenced to eight years in prison and four years extended supervision for each charge, which Domina ruled Friday will be served consecutively.
