First Stage Children's Theatre will present Charlie and the Chocolate Factory beginning March 2, and Muskego teen Brianna (Bri) Bulski will be a part of the cast as 'Land Loompa #6.'
The 14-year-old freshman at Muskego High School was available in between school and practices (she is also a part of the cast for MHS's production of 'Aida', which will debut Feb. 24) just long enough to tell her story of the stage.
"I actually had stage fright, and in 5th grade I didn't make the play at Lake Denoon Middle School," Bulski explained. "So when the Missoula Children's Theatre came to Muskego that summer, I decided to try again and was a part of The Little Mermaid."
Now Bulski's only fear seems to be not having enough to do. Her mom, Judi, explained that she's always been one to have a full schedule, and "as long as her grades stay up, we are supportive."
Bulski agreed, and said that she's still putting homework first, and has been able to work with teachers should her schedule require that she leave school early. She said she realized that good grades are a part of getting into a good college after high school, especially as she wants to pursue acting at a New York school.
One of approximately 700 kids that tried out in August for a spot in one of FirstStage's five productions, Bulski said acting there "looked like a good time, and I was happy just to get a role. I'm not picky...I'm thankful."
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory runs March 2-31, and ticket prices begin at $13. Aida runs Feb. 23-26 at the Muskego High School Performing Arts Center. Tickets are sold at the door, or to inquire about reserved seating, call 262.971.1790 ext. 4545.
