Muskego Girls' Swimmers Sign On For Bigger Seas

Seniors who made a splash throughout high school now turn their goals to college.

For seniors on the Muskego swim team have recently sign letters of intent with colleges, representing their talent throughout their time at MHS.

Claire and Hope Borland have both signed letters of intent to be members of the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee swim team.

Over the past four years, Claire and Hope have also been major contributors to the success of Muskego High School’s swim team.  They have earned varsity letters all four years at the school, according to Kugi.  Both girls have represented Muskego at the Wisconsin High School State Championships.  With numerous top eight finishes, Claire and Hope have been instrumental in Muskego’s many conference and invitational titles. They have both been longtime members of the Southwest Aquatic Team, and have had great success and qualified for many state and regional championships.  They each have finished in the top eight a number of times at these high level meets.

In addition, Emma Szczupakiewicz has signed with Miami of Ohio University. Representing MHS, Szczupakiewicz established herself as one of the top competitors in the history of Wisconsin High School swimming.  In 2010, she was the Wisconsin State Champion in the 100 Backstroke.

At this year’s championship she turned in lifetime best times in all of her events and earned a 2nd place in the 100 Backstroke and a 3rd place in the 100 Butterfly.  She was also a member of Muskego’s 2nd place 200 Medley Relay and 400 Freestyle Relay.  Throughout her high school career, she has earned numerous All-American honors and has qualified for All-American honors again this year. She has had an outstanding swimming career as a member of the Southwest Aquatic Team, and has won numerous Wisconsin State Championship titles for the team and has established a number of Wisconsin State Records.  Throughout her years with SWAT, she has qualified for the USA Junior National Championships.

Also, Sami Pochowski has signed with Florida State University. Representing Muskego High School, Pochowski established herself as one of the elite athletes in the history of Wisconsin High School swimming.  In the 100 Breaststroke, she won back to back state titles.  She established a new Wisconsin State High School Record in 2010 and then reset the record in 2011.  Pochowski also won the 2011 state title in the 200 Freestyle and was a member of Muskego’s 2nd place 200 Medley Relay and 400 Freestyle Relay. 

Throughout her high school career, she has earned numerous All-American honors. Pochowski is in her senior year and has had an outstanding swimming career as a member of the Southwest Aquatic Team. She has won numerous Wisconsin State Championship titles for the team and has established a number of Wisconsin State Records.  Throughout her years with SWAT, she has qualified for every major US Swimming Championship.  This includes the USA Junior Nationals, the USA Senior Nationals and the 2012 US Olympic Trials.
