Muskego Man Killed in Hunting Accident Over the Weekend

Thomas Stamborski died from a gunshot wound, but military officials at Fort McCoy say there are no further details to share as investigation is ongoing

Thomas M. Stamborski, 22, of Muskego, was found dead with a gunshot wound around midday Saturday in an approved Fort McCoy hunting area.

Stamborski was one of 2,000 permit-holders allowed to hunt on about 46,000 acres of land at the military site in Monroe County.

The death is under investigation by the special agents from the Army's Criminal Investigation Command. However Linda Fournier, a public affairs officer with Fort McCoy, told Muskego Patch, "while our criminal investigators are conducting the investigation, this is only because it is on federal land, and doesn't indicate that we believe there is foul play. At this time, it's too early to say."
