Muskego Senior Selected for Elite Economics Program

Allison Gage was one of 50 students to attend the Economics for Leaders program in Los Angeles

Allison Gage, a senior at and the upcoming school year's student council representative on the Muskego-Norway School Board, spent a week at an elite program that teaches economics to students.

Gage took part in the Economics for Leaders program, which is sponsored by the Foundation for Teaching Economics, at UCLA from August 7 - 14 based on an essay she submitted for consideration about her leadership philosophy.

Students attending the program, students attain an understanding of economic principles and how to use them in successful leadership. Decision-making and its impact on others and the world is also explored in the program

Although Gage probably won't pursue a major in economics, she said the experience was valuable in that it "opened my eyes up to other facets of business, and it was good to learn about economics in this setting."

She said that the program taught economic concepts but kept them engaging by incorporating small group projects and trading games.Β

Gage was chosen to be one of 50 students for the program, which included students from around the country, and global participants from Malaysia and Canada.
