Obama Sign Burning 'Like Mississippi in the 50s', Says Resident
Muskego man has political yard sign set ablaze, leaving him blaming 'extremist talk shows'
It's been a long political season in Wisconsin - about 20 months long - and a contentious one at that. However, a recent incident where a Muskego man's Barack Obama yard sign was set on fire has Bill Schuele wondering where polite political discourse has gone.
"It reminded me of Mississippi in the '50s," Schuele told Muskego Now, referring to the civil rights unrest throughout the south.
Police reported that it was likely the fire, which was set around 11 p.m. on Saturday, was aided by a small amount of a flammable liquid like gasoline.
Muskego Police Capt. Craig Moser told Muskego Patch that witnesses had seen a black sedan leaving the scene, but no further detail was available.
Schuele told Muskego Now he blamed "extremism whipped up by talk shows that spread negativity onto the stage of ideas."
Aside from blackened grass and the obvious loss of the sign, no other damage was caused by the blaze. Schuele has said that he plans on replacing the sign.

While I would never ever support behavior like this, throwing the race card in does nothing. What do we call the incident with Neal Kedzie's son being brutally beaten while his Romney signs were being stolen?

It is quite a comparison, and I don't think I would characterize it like that because in a way it does a disservice to the severity of those past crimes. The brutality in the Kedzie case on the other hand has crossed a line that I would not have thought was possible. People have got to stop being so angry. Guess what? If your candidate doesn't win, the country still stands.

So why do you report on this and try to create a racist slant to something that you have no idea if it was based on race or just politics. This guy is nothing but a race baiter and you empowered that position. How many Romney signs have been trashed by the left? Kedzie's son would have been a better article but it wouldn't push your agenda I guess.

Looking out my bedroom window last Saturday night and seeing the front lawn ablaze is something I hope other residents in Muskego will not have to endure. It was scary and reminiscent of the bad old days. I seep lightly now.

This is just so sick and dangerous that someone would start the Obama sign on fire. I don't blame the homeowners for being upset. Of course they would think of
"Mississippi in the '50s" when they see the fire on their front lawn!
