School Board Approves New Associate Principal at Bay Lane

Dr. Bryan Matera will join the district October 17, with interim Associate Principal Terry Balster serving at the middle school until then.

The Muskego-Norway School District approved the hire of Dr. Bryan Matera as the new associate principal at Matera will be coming into the district from northern Arizona, but has ties to Wisconsin.

In a letter to parents, Matera explained, "I am originally from Kenosha, Wisconsin and have completed several higher education degrees - all of which are connected to the profession of education. Specifically, I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Arizona State University, a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University, and a doctoral degree (Ed.D.) in Teacher Leadership from Walden University."

Matera taught at the middle school level for six years, and was in an instructional coaching position to assist other teachers. He also cited active teaching experience throughout his time as an instructor at Glendale Community College, Northern Arizona University and Grand Canyon University. His most recent experience was as an assistant principal in Arizona.

"I genuinely enjoy working with pre-service, novice, and seasoned teachers so that students can be impacted in a positive way," Matera wrote. "I am an ethical person with strong decision making skills. While I am grounded in building a positive rapport with all people, I remain focused on what is best for students. It is my belief that student learning should be a premier importance in any school."

Matera will begin as associate principal on October 17.
