SUV Crashes Through Storefront

Muskego woman loses control of vehicle while trying to part right in front Big League Barbers' windows; nobody injured in the accident.

Steve LaBelle, owner of Big League Barbers in Muskego, had a good sense of humor over an incident that put an SUV in the front lobby of his business on Thursday.

"We're offering drive-through barbering now," he quipped.

LaBelle could afford to make light of the situation, as no one was hurt when the vehicle came crashing through the front windows, including the female driver and customers that were inside.

According to the police report, the 44-year-old Muskego woman who was driving the SUV was pulling into the parking stall directly in front of the barber shop when her shoe, with a wedge-type heel "became wedged onto the gas peddle, and her foot stuck in the shoe, causing the  vehicle to quickly accelerate."

LaBelle said there had been a boy in the front getting gum just moments before the incident, "and I guess we can count ourselves lucky that no one inside was injured. There was just a lot of glass."

There were no citations issued in the incident, and LaBelle said he hadn't received an estimate on the damages, but was certain it would fall into the thousands.

Big League Barbers also had to close, but was open about 24 hours later on Friday. LaBelle said he wasn't sure if it was prom or curiosity that drew in customers, but "Saturday we had our biggest day ever."

Ha! I was waiting for that.... I do have to remember to blame it on the shoes the next time I get pulled over for speeding. You are a brave man, posting that with your full name, James.

I know the 5 year old who was by the gumball machine. He was so lucky he listened when his mother told him to come get a quarter for the gum machine. The photo shows how tragic this could have been had the boy been right there.
