Who Has the Best Fry in Muskego? We Want Your Suggestions
We're in a great city for your choice of fish, atmosphere and price range. So which fish fry has won your heart?
Who's got the best fish fry in Muskego? Patch wants to know.
Fish fries are always popular in Wisconsin, and everyone has a favorite, but there is no time for a fish fry like Lent, which began this week. Muskego Patch recently threw out the question on our Facebook page and received an immediate and enthusiastic response.
So here's the question again...where is the first place on your list when Friday comes around and you're craving something from the end of a fishing line? We'd like to know where your favorite spot is for a Friday night fish fry. Give us a suggestion in the comments section below, and we'll feature that place in a poll on Monday, Feb 27.
You'll be able to vote throughout the week, and we'll name the winner on March 2. Winners will be determined by Patch editors based on poll votes, comments, reviews and Facebook or Twitter feedback.
Our primary foray on Facebook yielded some great suggestions from established restaurants like Country Squire and Marx Pioneer Inn, but also from new comer Sauced Sports Bar.
Our search for the Best Fish Fry kicks off 12 weeks of local business competition, trying to narrow down the top spots in town for everything from pizza to mechanics to salons.
So start thinking of your local favorites, and get ready to vote, share your opinions and write reviews abut the best spots in town.

I like Chupsters Drive In located in Wind Lake, the fish is tender and crisp, served with french fries and cole slaw. Got it to go and it was hot and fresh when we got home!
Also had the shrimp, pretty nice sizes for the shrimp!
Will be going back!!!!!

Matty's bar & grill has good size portions of breaded cod, creamy cole slaw, choice of potato, a slice of dark rye bread, and they end it with a cookie. :-)

In Muskego - The Gingerbread House! (Matty's is great too, but that's New Berlin.)

I agree with the Matty's vote- it is across the street from Muskego so very close! =) I tried Sauced a couple of weeks after they opened and was not impressed with the breading on the fish. It was too thick and caused it to get soggy by the time I was done eating. However, they have the best sweet potato fries and their jalapeno cole slaw is delish (and I don't care for jalapeno's). Hope they have tweaked their fish recipe.

Hi csbothsides... we actually have changed our beer batter recipe to something lighter and crispier just last week, so come try us again!
For Lent... (and probably forever) we are adding favorites like breaded walleye and grilled grouper. We soon will offer baked fish as well.
Sauced is serving fish fries Wednesday and Friday during lent, we also offer to-go and DELIVERY on our whole menu.

Sadly, Denoon Saloon does not get our vote. Had a horrible Friday night fish fry experience, and we were not the only ones. Not even their signature parmesan potato wedges were edible.

Matty's is 50 ft. from the Muskego border...can we please play in your reindeer games. New Berlin does not have a Patch....Please....were lonely!

I know some good fish fries in other states right across the border, maybe we should include them in the poll, right Denise?

I agree let Matty's play in our games. While they are in New Berlin (soooo close to Muskego), they support Muskego in so many ways - Jammin' on Janesville and many other events. They are good and so is Marx on Pioneer - love Marx Chowder!

@Matt Anderson
You guys should just move to Muskego somewhere on Janesville in the future downtown district. I would LOVE that.... you guys seem to support Muskego a lot more than NB anyway, especially since you were a St. Leonard grad (me too!). I know it's a long shot, but that would be awesome for the entire city.

If we started listing just across the border....I'm placing a vote for Wegners on St martins dr. They pack 'em in for a reason, the beer battered fish is great. I usually order extra pieces, because the potion isnt as large as my appetite.

I'd allow that as well...these places so close to the border can't be ignored. I know we had a suggestion for the Cotton Picker, which is good, but that's getting a bit far.

And analysis of fish frys likely won't be as scientific without beer, either. Good luck in your studies!

Years ago, Bushy's had the best fish fry's anywhere. But times and cooks change and we don't go there anymore. We have tried other restaurants in Muskego and really aren't happy with any of them. We also go to Matty's, they are the best in the immediate area. I do like Champs(Brkfld) and Quick Lube(NB). China Inn in Hales Corners use to have very good fish fries. Wagners was VG once, and the second time so-so. The new Irish restaurant on Hwy 100 was pretty good. I really wish Bushy's would bring back what they once had many years ago.

The lake perch at Sauced!! Crispy outside, and you get a lot of pieces. Jalapeno coleslaw!! Sounds hot but it's not, just tastier. Sweet potato fries instead of the same boring fries!! What's not to like?

The walleye at Sauced was great last week. I like the walleye at Pioneer also, and Matty's have had some very good fish specials (and fotunately not fried).

The best fish fry in Muskego>>>Sauced !! Hands down the best! From the first crispy bite you know you're going to have an amazing Wisconsin treat... The Friday/ Wednesday Fish Fry at Sauced... Tender, flaky pieces lightly breaded and deliciously crisp, piping hot and cooked to perfection.. The Potato pancakes have the yummy crispy edges you can't wait to bite into.. and yes... love the cole slaw with just a little jalapeno kick to it... the sweet potato fries.. Devine....thin and delicious....top off this feast with an amazing craft brew... I have been to all the Muskego fish fries...and Sauced is Number 1.

I think Wegner's has a good fish fry but I really like Aunties (formerly Wild Breed) also in St Martins. Their batter is yummy. Fries need to be of a thicker variety though. I don't like skinny McD style fries. Best bet is to order the potato wedges they cook up in the broaster. Culver's, although a chain, has a decent selection of fish fry choices, and the fries are good. I would like to know where I can get potato pancakes that are made WITHOUT onions.

Maybe once this pointless park is built, we can go fishing off the $3.55million pier and fry them right there? Oh wait, no one will go pay $5 to get in to fish there...
