Hills, bagpipes, mist, obstacles – it can only be one place: Johnson Creek.
That’s right, Johnson Creek, Wisconsin. Several InPro employees wanted to challenge themselves outside of the InPro doors and took part in the Warrior Dash on August 18th. If you are picturing William Wallace, the legendary Scottish freedom fighter, who led a nation to fight for freedom from English tyranny, or something along those lines, well this was nothing like that.
The Warrior Dash is a crazy 5k challenge for those ready for an extreme battle. The most breathtaking, if gruesome, parts of this run are the obstacles involving water, fire and mud. Climbing Everest-like apparatuses that were 15 ft high, scaling vertical walls using a rope and a prayer, proved challenging for these weekend warriors. Sprinting to the top of a cargo net mountain to just stand there, kilt billowing, for no apparent reason other than to prove you are no wimp in this fantastic race. Jumping over raging fires with furious energy and surprising gravity wasn’t enough; these Warriors were forced to crawl 20 yards through a chest-high mud pit with barbed wire strung precariously 3 feet over the top. With frantic effort, these warriors sprung into action and single-handedly battled past the finish line for their victory.
These InPro Warriors maneuvered, belly-crawled and conquered barricades, barbed wire and massive slopes into mud pits just to achieve the bragging rights of bruises, cuts and sore muscles while bestowing the mighty horn helmet. “Aye, fight and you may die, run, and you’ll live... at least a while. And dying in your beds, many years from now, would you be willing to trade ALL the days, from this day to that, for one chance, just one chance, to come back here and tell our enemies that they may take our lives, but they’ll never take... OUR FREEDOM!” Pass the beer and the hose.
