TMJ4's The Morning Blend asked Acres of Hope and Aspirations to appear on their talk show on Thursday, October 18, 2012. The Morning Blend likes to showcase charities, worthy causes and businesses. Some of the cute and cuddly Creatures of Rehab agreed to make an appearance to bring awareness of brain injury. A brain injury is a silent epidemic and changes, alters or takes a life every 19 seconds. The only true cure of brain injury is prevention so any story about brain injury is an opportunity to prevent one.
But the miracle and beauty behind the actions needed to make this television appearance work sent a stronger message. Acres of Hope and Aspirations wanted to take along a miniature horse named Delarosa who is only 26 inches tall to The Morning Blend. Many of the other Creatures of Rehab could fit in the truck but not the little horse for his own safety and security. Though nurses have been told they can be angels of mercy, this time the rehab nurses at Acres of Hope and Aspirations needed an angel of their own to help get Delarosa there. An easy solution would have been to not include the little horse.
However, this message was surely heard from up above in heaven through an angel, Evan Coubal who died of a traumatic brain injury. Acres of Hope and Aspirations is sure his spirit made this beautiful connection happen. Evan's grandfather, Michael Pedersen had a horsetrailer, and he graciously stepped forward and allowed it to be used by the rehab farm. Delarosa made it safe to and from The Morning Blend along with the other Creatures of Rehab. Creatures of Rehab include fur, feather and reptile friends that help in the recovery and rehab of people affected by brain injury. In addition, the Creatures of Rehab are great cognitive teaching tools to bring awareness of brain injuries, especially for children.
Evan's spirit brings awareness to so many that enter the Gardens of Hope at Acres of Hope and Aspirations since a memorial bench was placed at the Waterfall of Hope in memory of Evan by the rehab farm. Although Evan lost his life on earth to a brain injury on September 5, 2010, we truly believe his spirit from heaven stands strong to make a difference about brain injury awareness.
Often we mourn the loss of those we love and feel pain and sorrow of such loss each and every day. However, Evan sent his love from above and a message strong and clear for his family and the Muskego community by connecting Muskego's Acres of Hope and Aspirations to his own grandfather and his gracious deed. "Evan was my helper with all my animals," stated his grandfather. Acres of Hope and Aspirations truly believes Evan's spirit made this small miracle connection for these animals/Creatures of Rehab including the miniature horse to safely attend the television appearance to bring awareness of brain injuries.
