Our hometown Muskego Impact amateur baseball team opened their 2012 Land O’ Lakes season Saturday at historic Horn Field with an easy 10-1 victory over the Waukesha Firebirds. They scored early and often pounding out 15 hits. Ron Koetteritz went three-for-four and Nick Blanchet went three-for-five. Josh Beatka and Joe Kooping had two hits a piece with Beatka driving in four runs on the day with three coming on an inside the park homerun in the 6th inning.
Three Impact pitchers limited the Firebirds to three hits while striking out 12. Nick Mlachnik started giving way to Jake Jewell in the 5th and Josh Beatka pitched the 9th. Jewell picked up the victory pitching for scoreless innings.
Coach Rick Henneberry sees good things ahead for the team this season.
He is excited about the young players added to the team the past couple years, seeing a good mix with his veteran players.
The Impact will next play at Horn on Sunday, June 3 at noon in a scheduled doubleheader against North Shore.

Move over Tom Haudricourt! Nice job Mike! We'll be sure to check out an Impact game or 2 this year. My sons attended the camp a couple of weeks ago and learned a lot from Rick and the players.
