Debt Relief Classes Pairs Faith with Finance

Financial Peace University classes hope to help families save thousands, brought to you by Muskego's newest church at city hall.

Faith and finances may not seem to be the most likely partners, but Lakepoint Church, a new church in Muskego, is making strides toward bringing financial freedom to the local community.

"Debt reduction and establishing a personal budget is a pressing need for families in today's economy.  Lakepoint is here to help people meet these everyday challenges head-on," a release from Lakepoint stated.

Lakepoint will be hosting TV and Radio Talk show host Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University program at the City Hall in Muskego. The meetings will be held Wednesday evenings weekly beginning Oct. 17-Dec. 19, 2012 from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.

Pastor Brian Hofmeister told Muskego Patch the pairing isn't as odd as one might think.

"We're rolling with (this program) at Lakepoint because of how many people in our circle have found it to be life changing.  Debt can be such a crippling thing for people.  We believe it can hold you back from doing what God made you to do and who he made you to be," he said.

"It's a Biblically based material, but it's so well respected outside of Christian circles that we're eager for anyone and everyone in Muskego to have this available to them as a tool," he added.

While the program claims to provide an average savings and debt reduction of $8,000 combined for participating families in just the first three months, what participants bring to the class in discipline often is what results rely on.

To register for the class go to www.DaveRamsey.com/findaclass. For questions or more information contact: Lakepoint Church via email at info@lakepointmuskego.org or call (262) 465-4090.  This is open to the public. There will be a one-time fee of $95.00, a payment plan and scholarships are available.
