Icy Temps Make for Frozen Fishing Fun at Muskego Park

The annual ice fishing clinic presented by Hooked Up 101 taught some of the youngest anglers a little about the winter sport

Fourteen young anglers ventured onto the ice with their parents at Muskego Park on Saturday to learn the basics of ice fishing. Hooked up 101 sponsored the event, which is an annual affair and a complement to the spring clinic offered in the same place.

Although the Groundhog did not see her shadow indicating an early spring, the air temps to begin the clinic on this day were in the single digits at 10:30am.

Following an interactive discussion on ice safety, the participants and their parents warmed right up by breaking out enthusiastically to drill a few holes and start setting tip-ups for the largemouth bass present in the lake at Muskego Park.

Fortunately, the largemouth did give us a break and allow the kids to pick up the finer points of jigging for bluegills using their Vexilar FL-12′s…

Nothing warms up a day like sharing laughs on the ice and catching fish - almost all 14 anglers caught multiple fish on this chilly Saturday!  We're proud of each one of these kids!
