Pop Up Camper Pops Through Ice On Little Muskego

Apparently unaware of the effects of 40 and 50 degree weather on ice, the owner of this camper will have quite a job removing it as colder temps will refreeze the vehicle in place.

We've enjoyed a January thaw thats all but eliminated snow from the area, but it's also removed much of the ice on the lakes, and the lakes have apparently claimed their first victim.

A pop up camper broke through the ice at the entrance of Idle Isle bay, possibly left overnight as a shanty. Muskego Police confirmed that no one was in the camper at the time, and no one was injured.

A quick go-round of the lake revealed much open water at the center, and most shorelines showing separation from the ice.

However, with below-freezing temps returning, a bad situation gets worse as it's likely to refreeze the ice, holding the camper in 'mid-sunk' position until it can be figured out how to remove it.

In the meantime, always make sure you are aware of ice conditions to make sure that you and your personal property stay on top of it.
