'Tailspin' Sign Looking For Place to Call Home

The city may display the historic rollercoaster sign on Janesville Road.

The Muskego Historical Society is looking for a permanent home for the historic Tailspin rollercoaster sign.

Volunteers have been refurbishing the sign, which now sits on the Historical Society grounds on Racine Avenue, for the past two years.

Officials are considering putting the sign on the northwest corner of Park Drive and Janesville Road. That location is near the original home of the rollercoaster, in Dandelion Park on Little Muskego Lake, and could be a unique fixture of the city's downtown and reconstructed Janesville Road, officials said in a report to Plan Commission members.

But the group is waiting to finish restoring the sign and for the road construction project to be completed before making a final decision, Community Development Director Jeff Muenkel said.
