Delish! Schedules Grand Opening March 15

Muskego's newest restaurant plans a 'soft open' to invite-only crowd first before they start serving gourmet burgers and shakes.

If you see the lights on inside the space in the Westwood Center mall at Janesville Road and Westwood Drive that was once Papa Joe's, the answer is yes, they are nearly open.

Friday will mark a private opening for Delish! New American Grill, designed to make sure things are working smoothly before their big grand opening on March 15.

"We want to make sure everything is perfect before we publicly open," explained owner Tracy Horan. So a few "focus groups" have been invited out to sample the menu and offer any suggestions, which seems a smart strategy in a space that has seen its share of restaurants over the past 10 years, including a Chinese restaurant, deli and Chicago-style dog establishment.

Delish! brings a local flavor in its decor, using images from Dandelion Park to adorn the walls. Additional artwork also recalls the golden age of the diner and adds a little fun to the atmosphere.

The menu features your basic American favorites prepared in unique combinations using names that locals may remember, like the Tailspin Burger (with pepper jack cheese, avocado and jalapenos) and the Skyliner dog (bacon wrapped around a hot dog). Build your own sandwiches also start at $5.95 to suit any taste.

The restaurant will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and may include Sundays if demand dictates.

Now that's one focus group I would not mind being part of! Well wishes to them!

Dear Owners: Any chance there will be some vegan options? Like a build your own veggie burger, possibly have some non-diary cheese as well? If you would like some free advice I would be happy to help.

Yes, please help us eat better if you can. I'm a big fan of the Juice Garden because it's one of the few healthy options around.

Best of luck! ! Make it fun and we will come. A vegan option is not a bad idea even for us meat lovers who have an occasional change of taste. However, no one needs to help us eat better--that is a personal responsibility. As far as Juice Garden--it is a great place, too.

Chicken and salads are also on the menu! I'm torn....I'm a huge fan of a big burger, but it's a Friday in Lent....Circle March 15 and support this business. It seems like they have done everything thoughtfully and will make a nice local addition.

sounds great. but I think hours may be tough to make it here. Ther is not a big lunch crowd in this town and many people do have quite a commute to and from work. 7 oclock seems kind of early to close. I would recommend watching culvers, subway and simillar businesses in the area to see when dinner crowd slows down. maybe staying open til 8 could be the difference between a business making or breaking it in Muskego

I agree with the open times. Many of us that have kids involved with sports or other activities are frequently looking for something for dinner after 7pm. I would think 8pm would be long enough to get in at least for a carry out. I would also recommend they watch the local community activities and adjust and promote specials after these events. We seem like an evening and weekend community for the most part. Good luck - would be great to see our community support and help this business succeed here in Muskego!

Cathy - if you have ever been to the Gingerbread House at lunch time, you will see that your statement about not a big lunch crowd in this town is not true. This town definitely needs some new lunch spots. I cannot wait to try it! Best of luck to the owners.

Papa Joes had an awesome lunch crowd. It was the rest of the dat that ate the profits

Best of luck to you! I love Juice Garden because of it's healthy options but I also love a really great burger now and then. We'l definitely be in to try it as soon as you open! And I also think that being open until 8, especially during baseball season, will help a lot. Lunch needs a new option besides fast food around here too!

Just to be clear, I dont need help to eat better. I have a very healthy vegan on my own with most of my meals being home cooked. I enjoy supporting my local businesses, and for me to be a customer at this business, they need to have options for me to eat. I'm not asking them to help me be healthy, im asking them to help me be able to support them.

SO true... but that place is a rip off, not sure why more people like that, guess that's what a coffee shop does since I don't goto Starbucks or those places, but when the Gingerbread House charge $2.50 for a can of soda... that place turned me off big time.

I wish people in Muskego would have felt the same about Salentine Buick. This was a bisiness that have so much to the city and got so little in return. Anyway I do wish you all the luck, and cannot wait to try a Wisconsin burger.

For those of you looking for the vegan options in the posts above Delish is the restaurant you are looking for. They carry a Garden Burger with several options of toppings. Feeling adventurous make it a Tailspin Garden Burger which adds Pepper Jack, Avocado and Jalapenos or Classic Mushroom which adds mushrooms, Swiss and onion strings. They also offer a variety of chicken options along with an amazing turkey burger for those of you who don’t like the traditional burger options. The family consensus was there Chop House Steak burger was very juicy. They offer a hand scooped shakes which were a huge hit with my kids.
