Small Businesses Have Holidays on Saturday and Beyond

While a mini-holiday dubbed Small Business Saturday is gaining momentum the day after Black Friday, Muskego businesses say they're here with specials and events well beyond Nov. 24

To make sure the "little guy" isn't overlooked in all the frenzy of the crowds camped out in front of big box retailers for days, Small Business Saturday was born.

Muskego's local retailers, however, want to spread the word that your business is important every day of the week, and they plan on wooing you throughout the entire Christmas shopping season.

While there is a list of specific local participants in the Small Business Saturday efforts through American Express, here are just a slice of specials and events found right here in your own backyard:

Thomas Jewelers - plans a Ladies Night on Thursday, Nov. 29, where women-only are welcome to browse and put things on their list so their significant others don't have to guess. Kurt Fifield, owner, also says their "snowfall promotion" is back: any purchase between Thanksgiving and Christmas qualifies, and if it snows three or more inches on New Year's Day between midnight and 3 a.m., your purchase (less tax, of course) is refunded.

L Spa - everyone loves pampering, even men, so they're encouraging the gift that fits everyone: gift cards. They also have a Customer Appreciation Party on Saturday, Dec. 1, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. - see more information on their website.

Gingerbread House - While the offer stands to receive an additional $10 gift card with the purchase of a single $100 gift card throughout the season, on Small Business Saturday, they've upped the ante to make it a $25 gift card with the same purchase.Β

Frenz Designing Hair and Nails - A holiday party is planned Friday, Nov. 30, from 6 to 8 p.m., including raffles if you bring in three non-perishable food items, which will be donated to the Muskego Food Pantry. Appetizers, beverages, goodie bags and retail discounts will also be offered. Can't make it? Ask a stylist to put together a great basket of goodies for gifting or pounce on a gift card for hair and other services there.

Basse's Country Delight - a slice of old Muskego, the store is open throughout December with gifts, including homemade jams, sauces, dry goods and crafts.Β

Daily Dollar - don't forget the extras on your list for gift-giving and holiday supplies, and they're here on the cheap, without looking like it.Β
