Stoplights on Janesville Installed

Adding lights to the intersection of Janesville and Bay Lane Drive/Glen Cove Road, the county takes another step toward completing street work.

Almost overnight, the structures that will provide permanent stoplights along Janesville Road have been erected.

Crews began work Monday and were nearly finished on Tuesday, with the new lights still covered until power can be provided to them. Along with replacing the lights at the intersections of Martin Drive and Bay Lane/Glen Cove Road, new lights are being added at Parkland Drive.

Also noteworthy is the new 'blue look' to street signage. Each light structure will feature the cross street designation based on the redesign approved by the city last year. At some point additional wayfinding signage will be placed on the poles as well.

Until the work is completed, speed limits remain at 25 mph throughout the construction zone.

I think that we sorely needed the stop and go lights at the Parkland intersection.

I just hope they are timed properly. Nothing more frustrating as a driver then hitting every single light when driving. In a time where we mandate higher mileage from car manufacturers it always confuses me how communities then time their lights to increase start and stop driving.

The lights on Moorland at Wal-Mart and the one at College don’t seem to be timed very well. When heading either north or south, seems that you always need to stop at one or the other.

Totally STUPID. That's a perfect place for a round about not another light. That's ok City of Muskego it's just my tax $$ you keep using. UGH

Good point "Mom." Now we have more possible red lights to deal with. Very annoying!

I thought that Roundabouts actually cost more than Stoplights, no? I am less worried about the timing of the red lights than I am about people STOPPING for them - the people that run the red lights at Janesville/Martin and Janesville/Bay Lane drives me NUTS - when I get green, I certainly don't go because I know someone will come flying through.

Never mind, I guess the costs are the same: http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/Safety/roundabouts/benefits.htm
