Acres of Hope and Aspirations wants to help a Hero Celebrate his Birthday at Jammin' on Janesville

Acres of Hope and Aspirations wants the community's help to help a true hero celebrate his birthday at Jammin' On Janesville on Friday, July 5. Winlom Woods is alive to celebrate another birthday and is truly a walking miracle. Woods was shot in the head in the Iraq War in July 2006 and not expected to live. The bullet still resides in his brain and cadaver bone in his skull. He has been nursed through 11 surgeries and 8 infections. He came over to the U.S. on life support, and his grandmother was told he may not survive the trip.  His hearing was destroyed on the right side where the bullet entered under the helmet. He has right sided paralysis and was not expected to walk or talk again. Woods needs 24 hours/day supervision and gains continued rehab with the Creatures of Rehab at Acres of Hope and Aspirations.

Lisa K. Alberte, RN, BSN, CCM, MS, CRC, ABDA  has worked with Woods for 7 years. He is a member of Muskego's VFW. He had served 11 years in U.S. Army National Guard.  He previously worked as a correctional officer and wanted to be a police officer when he returned from the Iraq War.  Because of the severe brain damage, he is no longer able to work, drive, cook, play sports or live alone.

Acres of Hope and Aspirations will have the wonderful and nurturing Creatures of Rehab at Animal Doctor on Janesville Road at Jammin' on Janesville on July 5. Please make an effort and stop down and wish this true hero a "Happy Birthday" and many more to come.  Everyday Woods lives with the severe frontal lobe deficits and medical complications from the bullet damage.  Everyday he wakes up is a blessing. Stop by on Friday, look for the Creatures of Rehab from Acres of Hope and Aspirations and wish Srg. Woods a Happy Birthday. Share in the opportunity to make a difference for a true hero who sacrificed for this country!!

Please Muskego show this hero what Muskego is made of and give him the best birthday celebration he so rightfully deserves for his sacrifices that almost took his life.  Remember freedom is not truly free. As Independence Day is approaching, please thank all the service men and women who gave us that right to have freedom and celebrate the 4th of July.  Heroes truly wear dog tags, not capes. Embrace the opportunity to make a difference and share in the celebration of what being an American is all about.
