As some of you may know (and others may not, so please share with family and friends), the Muskego Food Pantry has been serving the needs of the Muskego community since 2008. As summer rolls in this year, need is greater than ever, but our shelves are very empty. Our volunteers are resourceful, so we are getting the word out more than ever. Fliers were given out this Thursday afternoon at the Piggly Wiggly grocery store in Muskego, and the response was wonderful: in about 4 hours we accumulated 2 grocery carts full of donations. Volunteers will be at Piggly Wiggly and at Pick 'n Save again on Saturday morning, and hopefully in weeks to come as well. Our fliers were also available at Jammin' on Janesville businesses on Friday, and don't be surprised if you find one in your paper box in the next few weeks!
The mission of the Muskego Food Pantry is simple: "neighbors helping neighbors"
Please help us help all of our neighbors in Muskego; your donations, of both food and money, are always most welcome and appreciated. As always, any donations of non-perishable food items are greatly appreciated, but these are the items we need the most:
- Canned pasta products (i.e. Spaghetti-O's, beefaroni, ravioli)
- Rice - white, instant, brown
- Boxed potatoes (i.e. scalloped, au gratin, instant mashed)
- Canned vegetables - more uncommon types such as mushrooms
- Canned fruit - more uncommon types such as pears, pineapple, mandarin oranges (we get lots of peaches and fruit cocktail!)
- Applesauce
- Juice (bottled) - apple, mixed fruit, tomato
- Condiments (i.e. ketchup, mustard, relish, barbeque sauce, mayonnaise)
- Baking supplies - flour, sugar (all types)
- Brownie / cake mixes and frosting
- Cooking broths and soups (i.e. cream of mushroom, cream of chicken, cream of celery, etc.)
- Tomato products - paste, sauce, diced
- Household necessities - toilet paper, paper toweling, Kleenex, laundry detergent
- Health and beauty items - dental floss, lotion
- DIAPERS (especially in sizes 3, 4, and 5)
- Pet food - adult dog and cat (prefer dried, not canned)
