Farming Was Alvin Basse's Passion

Alvin C. Basse, who passed away Friday at age 80, saw a "little white stand" grow into Basse's Country Delight farm market.

As his obituary puts it, Alvin C. Basse loved to grow things and was a "farmer, father and friend to all."

Basse passed away Friday at the age of 80. He managed Guernsey Grove Farm for more than 50 years and saw the "little white stand" on his front lawn grow into the Basse's Country Delight farm market, according to the obituary

He was also a past president of Emanuel United Church of Christ in Hales Corners; president and chairman of Golden Guernsey Dairy, where his parents were founders; and an Army veteran who served in Germany.
