Obituary: Wayne A. Boldt, Boldt Farms Put Muskego on the Map for Egg Distribution

Member of the family that brought Boldt Farms to Muskego, making it the 'Egg Capitol of Wisconsin', Wayne Boldt, dies at the age of 77.

Hartson Funeral Homes posted this obituary on Wayne A. Boldt, who passed away on Jan. 9. The Boldt family was synonymous with the farm along College Avenue, and the store that bore the name (now BioSource Flavors) on Janesville Road years ago.

The Boldt farm began selling eggs in the 1930's, and Wayne Boldt took over operations in 1979, according to an article from the Milwaukee Sentinel.Β It was at that time the largest distributor of eggs in the state of Wisconsin, employing 65 full time workers and earning Muskego the title of 'Egg Capitol of Wisconsin.'

For veteran Muskego residents, they will remember the 'Olde Country Store,' which sold Boldt Farm eggs 'sunny side up' as well as Land O Lakes dairy.
