'Bottle Bombs' Damage Multiple Muskego Homes

The bombs, which combine a household cleaner and aluminum foil, can cause burns and injuries, according to police.

Police say three people have been identified in connection with "bottle bombs" that exploded at several Muskego residences Sept. 8 and 9.

Bottle bombs combine a household cleaner and aluminum foil in a plastic bottle, according to the Muskego Police Department newsletter. The bombs cause chemical burns, and the exploding fragments can also injure people.

According to police, bottle bombs exploded at two homes in the W12800 block of Champions Drive in the early morning hours of Sept. 8.

A resident in the S9700 block of Jimmy Demaret Drive reported a bottle bomb thrown onto a second-floor balcony about 8:20 p.m. Sept. 8, while another bottle bomb was reported the following night about a block away.

No one was injured in the incidents but the bombs did damage the properties.

Since the bombs are easily made with ingredients available in most homes, parents should take notice if they find those ingredients missing from their cabinets, police said.

Because while those responsible for the incidents earlier this month have been identified, "I believe more individuals will be curious about these bombs, often times juveniles," Community Resource Officer Ann Sheridan said in the newsletter.
