On June 22, a man contacted the Muskego Police Department after his home had been burglarized and numerous musical instruments had been taken. The man suspected his son, Nicholas Brylow, in the theft, saying he had seen his truck by Degroot’s house in recent days.

According to police, Brylow admitted to the theft and said he asked Degroot to help him sell the stolen instruments at a store in Kenosha. He said Degroot was reluctant at first, but he offered him $250 to help, so he agreed.
