Muskego Chief of Police Paul Geiszler announced his upcoming retirement at Tuesday’s Police and Fire Commission meeting.
Commission President Ed Gleason said that Geiszler has been a “steady hand on the helm” during his six-year tenure as chief.
Geiszler has been with the Muskego Police Department since 1980, when he was hired on as a patrol officer, working his way up through the ranks to police chief, according to Gleason.
“He’s done a commendable job,” Gleason said, noting that one of the chief’s accomplishments was working on the department’s accreditation. The Muskego Police Department is accredited by the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Accreditation Group.
The commission will be working quickly to replace Geiszler, who will retire at the end of the year. They are soliciting applications from within the Muskego Police Department and holding interviews later this month, Gleason said.
