Police Will Provide Officers For Big Muskego High School Events

Police believe officers at major events, like football games and dances, will deter students from misbehaving.

A uniformed officer will be at Muskego High School football games, prom, dances and other major events at the school.

School administrators approached the police department about providing an officer at those events, and police believe "it will be a good deterrent" for students not to misbehave, Police Chief Craig Moser said Wednesday at a Public Safety Committee meeting.

The school district estimated about 178.5 hours of special events it would like covered, which means a cost of about $9,639, Moser said.

The school district will pick up about 43 percent of the cost, with the city paying the rest, Moser said. It's similar to the arrangement for the school resource officer.

Muskego is one of the only schools in the Classic 8 conference that doesn't have officers at games, Moser said.
