City Seeks New Alderman for 4th District

Keith Werner's resignation prompts another call for candidates to apply for the council seat in the city's 4th district, with hopes of filling the position by June 26.

The resignation of Keith Werner as alderman for Muskego's 4th District - and the effort by a citizen's group against him - mean that the process to fill the position on the council can begin.

The Muskego clerk's office released a timetable to appeal to interested candidates and begin the process of interviewing them by the Common Council at their June 26 meeting.

A notice will be posted on the city's website Thursday, May 24. Applicants must reside in the 4th district at least 28 days before the appointment, be 18 or older and a U.S. Citizen with no felony record. Applications will be accepted until 4 p.m. Thursday, June 21.

The Common Council will then have the opportunity to 'interview' each candidate in person, and vote by paper ballot for their preferred candidate at their June 26 meeting. If possible, the candidate may then be sworn in on the same night as well.
