Council May Revisit DJs Rezoning, Comp Plan Changes

If the Plan Commission recommends the changes, it's likely the Common Council will hear public input again on DJ's Pub rezoning and requested changes to the 2020 Comprehensive Plan affecting lake development

At the last Common Council meeting, several public hearings were held and featured public outcry over a potential rezoning for a Janesville Road business and the city's Comprehensive Plan.

It could be a case of deja vu at this Tuesday's Council meeting if the Plan Commission, which meets on Monday, recommends the changes. Residents were concerned about what impact they could have on future development on the lake, and will no doubt take the opportunity of a public input session to again voice concerns.

DJ's rezoning would designate the parcel of land as 'downtown revival,' which is a business designation and would be required if Dan Hewitt, owner, is to rebuild the pub. The pub has existed under a residential zoning, but will be razed during Janesville Road construction.indicated suspicion among some residents over what that could mean for future business development on the lake.

The removal of language from the city's 2020 Comprehensive Plan that indicates specific lake properties for purchase had also raised concerns by residents who felt the changes did not go far enough. , eliminating any future lake park development. Again, if the Plan Commission recommends the current changes be adopted, the Council will have this back on their plate to vote on.

The Common Council will meet at 7 p.m. at City Hall in the Muskego Room on the lower level.
