Janesville Road Construction Gets Extra Early Start

Work will begin one hour earlier each day as crews try to get construction done as quickly as possible.

Crews on Janesville Road are getting to work one hour earlier each day than what Muskego ordinances allow.

Mayor Kathy Chiaverotti said she authorized construction to begin each day at 6 a.m., rather than the 7 a.m. start time dictated by local ordinance, so that work can be completed faster.

Construction is behind schedule and officials want to meet an aggressive timetable for completion of the project's second phase, Chiaverotti said.

Crews are adding two lanes on Janesville between Lannon Drive and Racine Avenue after doing the same between Moorland and Lannon.

"I do believe that everybody, whether they live on the road, or have business on the road, or live off the road, would like that project done sooner rather than later," Chiaverotti said. "We don't want them to lose more time."

Project Manager Ed Hinrichs said the additional lanes should be open to drivers by November. Some work, like landscaping, will wait until next spring.
