Muskego Alderman Noah Fiedler to Resign

Citing additional responsibilities at home and work, Fiedler is stepping down and is inviting applicants to participate in the process to replace him in the interim.

A brief item on the Committee of the Whole agenda for Tuesday night titled "process for filling vacancy on council" was intriguing, and after some inquiry, we received confirmation from Alderman Noah Fiedler, who represents Muskego's 7th District, that he is resigning from his seat on the Common Council at the end of March.

Fiedler sent an email to Patch that was shared with his constituents, apparently sent over the weekend. Here is the content:

As many of you know, my wife and I were blessed with a new addition to our family only weeks ago, my son Gideon.  Between now having two kids at two and under (my daughter Adori turned 2 yesterday), and additional responsibilities in my "day job," I can no longer devote the time and energy to the City and to our District, that I feel is necessary.  Accordingly, I informed the Mayor that I will resign my seat on the Council effective at the end of March.

Seats that become vacant between elections are filled by vote of council after an application and interview procedure.  At the moment, those interviews and the council vote is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, March 27, 2012.  If you, or anyone you know, is interested in filling the District 7 seat, please let me know, or contact the city clerk.  If you have questions about what's involved, time requirements, meetings, etc., please feel free to contact me and I'll be happy to fill you in.

It's been an honor to represent you these past five years.  I've met a lot of wonderful people and hopefully left the City a better place than it was five years ago.  I appreciate the time each of you took to communicate with me when you had questions and concerns, and to offer opinions and advice to help me when I needed it.  Muskego's a great place to live and I hope it stays that way for many more generations.  Thanks again for everything.

Noah D. Fiedler
District 7 Alderman, City of Muskego

The regular election for District 7 occurs in 2013, so whoever is selected by council will serve until then, and will need to campaign for re-election to retain that seat.

The Committee of the Whole meets on Tuesday, Feb. 28 at 6:30pm at City Hall to discuss the procedure going forward.
