Muskego Will Give Lakefront Park Proposal a Closer Look

Muskego aldermen want more details on cost and public input before considering an offer to purchase land on Little Muskego Lake.

Muskego aldermen want more cost details and public input before they consider acquiring a Little Muskego Lake parcel for a public park.

The family of the late Betty Lemke has offered to sell the city 2.1 acres she owned near Janesville Road, just west of Pioneer Drive, to honor her wishes that a park be created on the land.

The Common Council, however, wants more details about just much it would cost to transform the land into a park. Some of the work that would be needed includes shifting a driveway, trimming and eliminating trees and removing two homes on the property, Mayor Kathy Chiaverotti said.

Aldermen also want to hold a public forum on the proposal, likely in November or early December, she said.

Lemke's land is two parcels totaling about 354 feet of lake frontage. Proposals for the lakefront park have come before the council in the past and have generated a lot of controversy, as the Muskego NOW reports
