New Church Hopes to Worship in Former Teen Club

Fox River Christian Church has hopes to renovate the former 'Lights' Teen Club, but will need approval from Plan Commission; Moose Lodge, Muskego Firestone also ask for amendments to their sites

It came and went almost overnight, and now the 'Lights' teen club could be the site of praise and worship instead of dancing and arcade games.

The Plan Commission will begin with a public hearing on the matter, then consider a resolution for the Fox River Christian Church to open a satellite church at the corner of Tans Drive and Racine Avenue on Muskego's north side.

Residents won't likely notice many changes to the building's exterior, however the congregation will need to transform the interior, which consisted of several separate areas, into a larger worship space to accommodate about 345 people. Offices, classrooms and a reception area will also be a part of the plans.

The city will also ask for more attention to the exterior, as it has been empty for nearly a year and a half and is in need of basic landscaping and maintenance.

In addition, the agenda for Monday night's meeting will include:

  • Muskego Moose Lodge - requesting electrical improvements to their property at Crowbar Road and Janesville Road to accommodate up to eight camping spots for motor homes in anticipation of an international convention in Milwaukee May 24-29. The Muskego site is considered the second closest spot for visitors in town.
  • Muskego Tire and Auto - plans are expected from the business for an accessory building at their location along Janesville Road, however no further details were available at publish time.

Might as well be a church, since the restrictions on signage at the place will prevent it from being any sort of successful business. Hard to run anything out of a place if you can't do anything to the building to let people know what it is.

This will be another tax free setting for Muskego, after losing how many businesses?

I think this building is a perfect siting for Fox River Church
