Racine Ave. Recreational Trail Back on Track

An 8-foot wide asphalt trail on the west side of Racine Avenue will extend from Woods Road to just south of Janesville Road.

Plans to finish the Racine Avenue recreational trail are back on track after Muskego aldermen voted to move forward with the project this year.

The Common Council previously pushed the work to 2014 after bids came in over budget, but changed course because a delay likely would have increased the cost of the project, Mayor Kathy Chiaverotti said.

The city is using soil from the Janesville Road construction project, which it couldn't do in 2014, she said.

The Racine Avenue Recreational Trail is a planned 8-foot wide asphalt trail on the west side of Racine Avenue from Woods Road to Culver's, just south of Janesville Road. The trail will be the final link in a loop that connects Woods, Moorland and Janesville together.

The council last week approved the Musson Brothers' low bid of $526,874.
