Muskego-Norway Schools Might Leave You With Some Extra Cash

The Muskego-Norway School District may mark its third consecutive year with a tax levy decrease.

Your wallet might be a bit heavier next year, as the Muskego-Norway School District may be askingΒ for less money from taxpayers.

In a budget update to the School Board Monday, district officials projected anywhere between a flat tax levy (no increase or decrease from last year) and a 1.9 percent decrease, board President James Schaefer told Patch.

Any decrease would mark the third consecutive year the district decreased its tax levy.

Schaefer said this was the School Board's first budget discussion since Governor Scott Walker passed the biennial budget earlier this month. Walker touted investments in education in the $68 billion budget.

Any extra aid from the state will be used to decrease the local tax burden, Schaefer said, noting that school programs will not be cut.
