Alderman Werner To Resign

Alderman from 4th District is under a recall effort, which could delay appointment process, but will step down on June 2.

In a letter to Mayor Kathy Chiaverotti, Alderman Keith Werner has tendered his resignation from the Common Council.

"I intend to resign my position as Alderman effective June 2, 2012," he stated in the letter. "During the course of the month of May, I will be taking on additional responsibilities with my full time employer which may reduce my availability to represent the constituents of District 4."

Werner, along with the mayor and Alderman Neome Schaumberg, have been the focus of recall efforts by a citizens group, which has not confirmed how they stand on the required signatures.

Chiaverotti also stated that the recall procedures would hamper efforts to replace Werner by Council vote. While the recall is underway, no reappointment process can begin unless the petition is withdrawn.

Werner also said, "It has been a privilege to represent the constituents and the citizens of the City of Muskego.  In my last five plus years on Council, many decisions were made as a representative government that were in the best interest of the community.  We are reaping the benefits of those decisions now.  I am proud of my tenure.  I wish the Council, City Staff, and you the best in the years to come."
