Brookfield Academy, seeded No. 8 in Division 5, loses big to top-seeded Brillion.

Brookfield Central and Brookfield East posted comfortable wins on Friday night in the first round of the WIAA Division 2 football playoffs.

The Spartans will play Greendale in Level 2. The Panthers (5-4) surprised Wauwatosa West in a 41-16 rout in the first round, after the teams had played an overtime game in the regular season.

Central (5-4) took care of South Milwaukee, though there are conflicting scores reported. The WIAA website has the final as 39-8, while WisSports.net has 33-8. Central trailed 8-7 after the first quarter and led only 10-8 at half, according to WisSports.net, but pulled away in the second half.

Central gets second-seeded Whitefish Bay (8-1), which had no problems with Messwood 37-0 in the first game.

Brookfield Academy, an eighth seed in Division 5, was not as fortunate Friday. The Blue Knights (4-4) fell quickly behind top-seeded Brillon and lost 48-0.
