Dennis Bussen to Retire from District

Former MHS Principal and Assistant Superintendent will step down at the end of June, citing family reasons for his departure.

After taking the second-in-command position at the Muskego-Norway School District in July 2012, Dr. Dennis Bussen announced his retirement at the school board meeting Monday night.

The announcement came more as a board action to accept his resignation, and Bussen did not make a statement at that time. However, he told Muskego Patch afterward, "I had been thinking about retiring for some time lately. I would like to spend more time with my four grandchildren, wife and family."

"There are also some personal family reasons that have influenced my decision. The students, parents, staff and Muskego-Norway community have been outstanding to work with during my 12 years of service. I feel extremely fortunate to have been given the opportunity to work in such a fine school district," he added.

Bussen was Muskego High School's principal for 11 years prior to taking on the assistant superintendent's role last summer. The board will begin its search immediately to replace him.Β
