Dunlap and Gruettner Win State Wrestling Titles

With decision wins, Muskego's final two wrestlers come out on top.

Roland Dunlap and Jordan Gruettner are WIAA state wrestling champs.

The two Muskego High School juniors each won by decision against strong opponents. Dunlap finished with a 10-2 decision, and Gruettner finished with a 13-4 decision.

Dunlap's season is certainly one to celebrate. With an overall record of 42-3, he headed into the finals against Shane Hughes from Arrowhead. Hughes' record was 36-7.

Gruettner was undefeated heading into his final match against Steve Sizer from West Bend. Sizer's record was 47-4.

The team had five wrestlers in the tournament. Freshman Austin Quartullo (103 pounds) lost his quarterfinal round. He had the chance to wrestle for 3rd place in a consolation match where he was eliminated from the tournament.

Junior Justin Scherkenbach made it to the semifinal round, but lost a heartbreaker in overtime. He also had the opportunity to compete for 3rd place, but lost 4-2. He finished in 4th place.

Senior Tyler Quartullo finished in 5th place after he lost a 4-1 decision in the semifinals.
