The Muskego boys swim team apparently like the water in the Classic 8 pool, emerging from the conference meet on Saturday with a dominant first place finish.
Muskego was ranked number 1 in the area by the Journal Sentinel and finished with 456 points; its closest competition was Brookfield, which posted 379 points and Arrowhead placed third with 311 points.
Coach Larry Milton told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, "I did expect to have a good team, but then again, (this conference) has good teams. Great teams. I'm very, should we say, pleasantly surprised."
In addition, the following swimmers on the team won individual championships:
- Junior Joe Szczupakiewicz placed 1st in the 500-yard freestyle (4:41.77) and in the 200m freestyle (1:46.40)
- Senior Patrick Walsh placed 1st in the 200-yard individual medley (1:57.59)
- Junior Jon Roberts took 1st in the 100-yard freestyle (47.69)
