Muskego High School ACT Scores Dip

While scores dropped, the school saw a record number of students take the test.

Muskego High School saw its average ACT score drop in the 2012-13 school year, as well as a record number of students taking the test.

The composite score of Muskego High School seniors was 22.9, down from 23.7 the year prior, according to state Department of Public Instruction data released Wednesday

Muskego's score remained higher than the state average (22.1) and the national average (20.9).

In addition, the high school had 71.4 percent of seniors take the test—its highest percentage since at least 1995-96, according to the DPI data.

The number of students who took the test, 334, was also a school high.

Statewide, Wisconsin had 71 percent of its 2013 public and private school graduates take the test in their high school career.

The state's composite score ranked second in the nation, behind only Minnesota, which had an average score of 23.

"Our 2013 graduates performed well on the ACT college admissions exam," State Superintendent Tony Evers said in a news release. "We have work to do to get students to take the rigorous coursework that will prepare them for college and careers and will help bridge achievement gaps."
