Small Increase Expected in School Property Tax Levy

The school tax levy would rise less than 1 percent under the district's preliminary budget, which will be finalized in October.

The Muskego-Norway School District projects a slight increase in the property tax levy, which school officials say is mostly due to a drop in state aid.

Under the district's preliminary budget, the school property tax levy would rise 0.56 percent—from $32.7 million to $32.9 million.

The tax rate would increase from $11.01 per $1,000 of equalized value to $11.18. That means a person owning a home worth $200,000 in equalized value would pay $2,236 in school property taxes.

The budget will be finalized at the school district annual meeting Oct. 28.
