Turkey Trot Makes Strides for New Windows at St. Leonard's

St. Leonard's 5K run will help replace 102 windows at school.

While organizers are still gathering the numbers to determine how much money was raised from the St. Leonard's 1st annual Turkey Trot run on Thanksgiving Day, it's now known what the money will be used for.

Fr. Dan Janasik, pastor at St. Leonard's, announced that proceeds from the the 5K run, which officially drew 703 participants in its first effort, will help fund the replacement of windows at the school.

All 102 of them.

"The school was built in 1958 and the windows were never meant to last for over 50 years," he explained in a letter to parishioners. "They are in terrible shape. Last year the parish attempted to do some repair work on the windows, and contractors told us that the windows are beyond repair."

Allen Jorn, chairman of the event, had reported that they were overwhelmed at the response, and that even neighbors along the route were supportive. The event will return on Nov. 28, 2013.

As for the windows, which are being estimated at $175,000 to replace, additional fundraising will be needed from parishioners, with work to replace them beginning at the end of the school year in June 2013.

Yes, Muskego has great businesses! We also have a great Executive Director -- Tina Weiss -- who weRead More can thank for much of the Chamber's growth, as well as our own.
