Hoops for Hope Takes to the Court Again

Annual girls basketball tournament keeps its eye on the ball, as well as the need for filling the Food Pantry's shelves.

The 2nd annual Muskego Warriors Girls "Hoops for Hope" 4th-8th Grade Basketball Tournament will return to the courts at Muskego High School next weekend.

As last year's inaugural tournament dictated, the focus will not just be on basketball, but feeding local families who are still struggling.

"It is open to the public, and will involve both gyms at the high school," said Eric Schroeder, one of the organizers for the event. "We're offering $1 off admission with a nonperishable food donation, and for every food item up to 500 we are matching that dollar donation."

Schroeder said the tournament is full, with about 40 teams participating over the two-day event. Saturday, Dec. 15th will feature 6th, 7th and 8th grades; 4th and 5th grades will play on Sunday, Dec. 16th.

The tournament runs 8-8 on Saturday, and 9-5 on Sunday.  There are still openings for volunteer positions in concessions and admissions.

"This is a great way for kids to get involved, especially those who need service hours, or for parents with kids who perhaps are younger to become interested in basketball and our organization," Schroeder said.
